Notes: Not a version of the official 200 Motels. This is an unauthorized live recording of the 15th May 1970 concert at Pauley Pavilion [UCLA], with a special version of The Mothers assembled for the occasion, conducted by Mehta.
Recording made by an audience member (probably cassette).
FZ wanted a tape recording of the performance, but the Musicians' Union demanded a considerable amount of money for 'recording rights' and threatened legal action. FZ declined, and therefore the original bootleg recording remains the only audio document of the performance.
Several variants exist, with different sleeve sheets and vinyls in black, red and green, including a 'double package' of this performance paired with Frank Zappa – Hot Rats - At The Olympic.
